If you get scammed in Adopt Me, we cannot re-add your items - this is why you should keep them safe! Once they’re gone, they’re gone!

What common types of scam are there?

Private Message Links/Server Invites

Becoming increasingly popular, some users will contact you on private messaging services (Instagram DMs, Tiktok, Twitter DMs, Discord DMs) to either offer to trade with you, or saying you have 'won' something. It may look legitimate, as they send a link to add you or invite you to a private server. 

More often than not, these are fake links and are a way to get your account information to hack you.

The only way to add people on Roblox is through https://www.roblox.com and to search their username.

The real roblox.com will always have an 'https://' before it, and in your browser will have a padlock 🔐 that confirms it is secure.

Be extra vigilant when clicking links that look like they are from Roblox, reading carefully that the link has a 'https://www.roblox.com' and is not a misspelling. 

Trust Trades

Trust trades are a type of scam that some players use, where you trade an item first for nothing in return, then the other person trades something after, where you don’t offer anything. The trick is that once you trade them your item, they can log off and steal your pet! In a trust trade you will never get your pet back, even if they say that they will, this is a lie and a very common scam!

You should never trade your pet in these types of situations, as it's most likely a scam!

Trading for Robux/other game items/gift cards

Trading Adopt Me items for Robux, other game items or gift cards is against the rules and you can get your account banned! Our rules (Terms of Service) are available here: https://playadopt.me/legal/terms/

Trading for Robux or other game items is an easy scam, as you will have to trade your Adopt Me items first. These players then can log off and block you, so you cannot contact them for ‘your half’ of the trade.

You should never trade your pets for items in other games or for Robux, as it is likely the other user will take your pet and not give you the item in return. Anyone who tries or advertises that they are trading for Robux should be reported in Roblox immediately! This helps keep the Adopt Me community safe and fun for everyone. If you break any of the Terms of Service, you can get permanently banned from Adopt Me.

If you see anyone trying to use any of these methods to scam people - you can block and report them!

Giveaways

You should only participate in official giveaways from the Adopt Me social media and Discord.

You should never give your password to someone who says they are hosting a giveaway, you will be hacked! If you win an official giveaway, the Adopt Me Team will add items directly to your inventory - we’ll never ask for your password either.

Can I buy Adopt Me items with real money?

If you like to spend your Robux on Adopt Me items, always double-check where your Robux are going!

This is an example of a legitimate purchase in Adopt Me!

This is an example of a fake Adopt Me store - the seller isn’t DreamCraft and the description doesn’t say Adopt Me! 

All real Adopt Me items are sold by DreamCraft only. Anyone else who claims to sell Adopt Me items is fake, and you should not give them your Robux.

The real DreamCraft has this logo, and the group is made by NewFissy.

You can report fake sellers of Adopt Me items on their user page!


Buying Adopt Me items from third-party websites is against both the Roblox and Adopt Me Terms of Service, and can see your account permanently banned. Items sold on those websites are stolen from players by scammers. 

How do I trade legendary pets?

Our Trading Update has made trading even more secure, here are some of the changes we've made!

You now get 9 total trading slots, so you can trade more items!


You now need a Trading License to trade items that are Ultra-Rare or Legendary, you can find how to get a Trading License by going to the Safety Hub and talking to the agents inside!

How do I report a Scam?

Once you complete your Trade License Test you can check your trading history from the last 30 days by using your newly acquired Trade License from your Toy Menu.

With this Trading License, you can report your listed trades to the Adopt Me team. Please only report legitimate scams!

Someone said they were an Adopt Me Team Member/Influencer - is that true?

Adopt Me Staff and Influencers now have special tags above their names, so you know who is telling the truth when they say they either work for Adopt Me or are famous! These people with tags will never ask for free items or threaten to ban you for not trading with them.

What else can I do to stay safe?

If you’re ever worried or confused about keeping safe online, here are some good tips!

Link your Roblox account to an email address

When you add and verify an email address to your Roblox account, you can then request password changes and can get help!

Keep all your personal information personal!

Do not share your full name, where you live, your email or anything else that could be used to identify you! If anyone asks for any of this information, you can block them and leave the server - and make sure to report them to Roblox!

Keep your password private!

Do not type in your password anywhere except roblox.com

If anyone asks you for your password, do not give it to them, and block them! If someone pretends to be an Adopt Me Team member and asks for your password, or asks that you log in on their private server to get a free pet, it’s a scam! 

Use 2-Step Verification

Roblox recommends players add 2-Step Verification to accounts, which you can do here: https://en.help.roblox.com/hc/en-us/articles/212459863-Add-2-Step-Verification-to-Your-Account

2-Step Verification keeps your account safe by alerting you when someone else tries to log in!

If you wouldn’t say something to your parents, you shouldn’t say it here!

Keep Adopt Me kind and friendly, and if anyone is mean you can report them and block them!
